The Center for Humanitarian Work “Hajrat” is a branch of the Islamic Community in Serbia that as thus far helped thousands of homeless, ill and grief-stricken families struggling with poverty all througout the Sandzak region. Its only goal is to bring a glimmer of hope to those who feel that everyone has turned a blind eye to their suffering. For many, it has been the saving grace they never thought was possible.

In the past couple of months, Hajrat has been bustling to equip all families in need before the cold winter ahead. Along with seven soup kitchens scattered around the Sandzak territory, Hajrat also helps those in need of shelter, home appliances and health care.

In Tutin they visited family Hadzic who was living in very difficult conditions in the village of Naboj.

Hajrat was very quick to respond, family Hadzic was in need of a bathroom, and with the good people from Novi Pazar addressing this issue to Center for Humanitarian work, they then organized and bought all the bathroom equipment and kitchen items the Hadzic family needed. The happy and grateful family was in awe at the amount of care and support they received.

In Sjenica, Hajrat paid a visit to the Latović family living in very difficult conditions in the village of Dunišiće.

“Having seen their situation, two paralyzed males living in the household with only the female members to take care of them, we decided to help this family. Safet was paralyzed and without a wheelchair, we were able to provide him with a new one. For the old nana we bought a fridge because she requested it as it is the most necessary appliance so the food wouldn't spoil anymore.” Says CHR Hajrat chairman Mirsad ef. Bećirović.

Also in Sjenica, Hajrat visited the village of Krce, where the Muratovic family lives. The charitable residents of Novi Pazar along with the CHR Hajrat, made it possible for this family to have a roof over their heads.

Family Muratovic was left without a head of the household five years ago but with the help of neighbors, relatives and CHR Hajrat they will be equipped with a new roof for the upcoming cold months.

The three orphans and their mother Fadila will soon get a roof over their head. There is still more work to be done, the house needs electricity and running water as well as drywall and furniture.

Director of CHR Hajrat Mirsad ef. Bećirović expressed satisfaction that the work is coming to an end before winter, so the house wouldn’t deteriorate. He thanked all those who help families who are in difficult situations and in need.

Grandfather Harun Muratovic thanked the charitable organization because, he said, without them none of this would be possible.
