Austria – Speaking to the annual Assembly of the Bosniak National Foundation – BNF, Sandzak Mufti, Muamer ef. Zukorlić said that the Austrian-Bosniak experience has lasted for more than 130 years, and that these two nations have been very friendly on a long term basis, despite the fact that that period began with the occupation of Bosnia by Austria-Hungary.

“Bosniak bones were built into the foundations of Austria and therefore we have a claim for special respect in this country.”

Mufti expressed his gratitude for Austria housing more than 100,000 Bosniaks, especially during the nineties, pointing out that appreciation is the core of our faith.

In connection with the announced changes to laws on Islam, Mufti asked the Austrian authorities not to pass this law without the consent of the Islamic community in the country, stressing that imposed laws do not benefit anyone.
